The Synopsis
Unexpectedly pregnant, a mid-40s couple faces the challenging decision to dive back into newborn baby chaos, or to cherish the family they’ve built, in a timely story of choice.
The film seeks to shed light on the deeply personal and nuanced conversations surrounding abortion and a woman’s right to bodily autonomy.

The Director's Statement

I work at the intersection where art meets activism. I believe all art is political, so it’s best to be intentional. Nothing could be more personal than the decision to grow a family, yet we live in a country where bodily autonomy is not guaranteed. One in four women will have an abortion in her lifetime, yet access is restricted by timing, place, and economics. Most Americans agree that abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest—but what if having another baby simply isn’t best for you or your family?

With The Test, I wanted to tell this story through an unapologetically female gaze, with intimacy, honesty, and humanity. As my narrative directorial debut, this film reflects both my creative voice and my belief that storytelling can spark conversation that transcends politics and centers compassion.
